Taking care of your fresh wild salmon
1. Be home when your salmon is delivered so it doesn't sit out in the sun! 2. Open immediately and rinse the salmon. 3. Best: Have a cooler filled with ice ready and keep the salmon chilled on ice until you cook it. Your salmon is so fresh that you can keep some on ice for up to a week and have several fresh meals! Next best: If you don't have a cooler, you can refrigerate the salmon for a few days. Even after seven days your fish is still as fresh as the fish you would buy at the store. 4. Chances are, you will want to freeze some of your salmon. We suggest purchasing a vacuum seal machine which is sold at Coscto and other stores. If you know you are going to freeze some, do it on the soonest day possible after receiving your fish. The sooner you freeze your fish, the longer it keeps well in the freezer. You should try to eat frozen fish within a few months. Freeze the fish in fillets or steaks. See below for tips on cutting into filets or steaks. |
